Robert X GulphinPerhaps best known for his roles as Dunbar Reed in Denzel Washington's "The Great Debaters", Son in the multiple award-winning "Punch Me", and Kevin in "The Storm: An Original Pop-Rock Musical", Robert X. Golphin is an artist who has yet to scratch the surface of his potential.
Many entertainers desire fame merely to have fame. But Robert, since the age of 14, has used his talents and passion f...or the arts to not simply entertain, but also inspire, encourage, educate and stimulate. Through his dozens of screen and stage creations, he has championed change in people and communities. He has opened many doors for new and rising talent while continuing to bust down doors for himself. He has collaborated with industry veterans in order to give them more diverse opportunities. He has helped multiple artists garner awards recognition and other accolades for their work. He has always gone above and beyond to make sure that those who work with him garner the acknowledgement they deserve. After being inspired and mentored by multiple individuals himself, Robert has paid it forward time and time again. He has encouraged some to discover their life's passions and reinforced those passions for others. Some of those folks stand beside him today and others have moved on. But he finds satisfaction in knowing that he has been blessed enough to touch the lives of others. As an award-nominated actor, Robert has had roles in/on some of the following Film & TV productions: "Remember The Daze", "Rounding First", HBO's "The Wire", "Un-Perfect", "Simply Untitled", "Track Marks" and "Beautiful Man In The Buff". As an award-winning filmmaker, he has written, produced and/or directed nearly a dozen film projects and garnered at least 21 awards or nominations for his work. He has also worked in various capacities on feature films, television programs, stage-plays, etc. in the mainstream and independent arena. In a CBS-TV interview, Denzel Washington said Robert "never said anything about his writing and found out later he's written books, working on screenplays, (and) making movies. Just was an unusual cat. Came in and read and (there) was just something about him that I like. And obviously he's very intelligent." Robert's screenwriting has been lauded by the likes of Oscar Nominated Screenwriter, Stephen J. Rivele (Ali, Nixon). Robert is the author of the novel, "Abandoning Adam: Confessions of an HBCU Scholar", and will release his latest directorial effort, "I AM MAN" in late 2011/early 2012. Robert holds an MFA in Screenwriting (Spalding University), B.A. in Theater and Film (Magna Cum Laude, Saint Augustine's University), and a Diploma in Creative Writing (Philadelphia H.S. for Creative & Performing Arts).
